Happy Halloween

Have a safe and happy Halloween!!

(P.S. This blog had been interrupted by the stomach flu. It's been a full week of this nastiness and I've almost kicked it. Hopefully normal blogging will return next week)

Apparently leaves aren't the only things falling around here

Yep, you guessed it. Teeth are the other thing that's falling. It's his first one. He's so excited. He's been waiting and waiting and waiting...
He's one of the youngest in his class (he's a July birthday - and there are August birthdays who are almost a year older) so he's also the last one to lose a tooth. It's a big deal when you are six years old. Next thing you know he'll be driving (be still my breaking Mama's heart....sniff). I can't believe my baby lost a tooth. THIS.IS.MY.BABY. Maybe it's time to think about having another one... Ha Ha, just kidding. But it does move him farther away from "little" boy to "big" boy. (My heart hurts...)

P.S. The recipe for the Mexican Casserole was found on the Gluten Free Girl's website back in January 2008. I was going to link to it, but I can no longer find it there. I'm thinking that maybe it's in the new book?? I'm not sharing it because I have a feeling she pulled it for a reason. It is delicious though. For more great recipes, check out her site and her books.

How does asthma make YOU feel?

It makes me feel scared and sad when my son has an asthma attack. He feels scared and sad too (and a little mad, I think).

Listen to how these kids feel:

Thomas the Tank Engine does Yoga

I was not feeling particularly "exercise-y" this morning. Not.At. All. In fact I wasted a good amount of time surfing the web and looking up things on Google (I'll call it research...). Most of what I was doing was procrastinating because I really didn't want to work out this morning. So I figured if I went downstairs and did a few Yoga poses at least it was better than sitting upstairs eating chips nothing. What do I find in the basement?? Apparently Thomas the Tank Engine beat me to the punch.

IMG_2213

Thomas appears to be doing Yoga on my Yoga mat! How dare he?? (Although it actually looks like there was a terrible train accident. I hope no one was injured. That or the other engines don't know proper Yoga poses.)

And someone with bad spelling (Sir Topham Hat??) left a note about not "toching"...

IMG_2214

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with the word "toch". I hope it didn't mean don't pack up the entire train set and put it away so it wasn't touching Mom's Yoga mat.

*A valuable lesson was learned by two little boys who happen to be bad spellers.

1. Spelling is important

2. Don't mess with Mom's Yoga mat

3. Your notes mean nothing

Menu Plan Monday

Happy Monday!! I made my menu out last Thursday and I've already changed it up a bit. Good thing I consider it a living document and not set in stone. Friday was kind of a crazy day and I didn't get to make the menu item I had planned. I had a lot of running around to do but I thought I'd still have time. But a wrench was thrown into the plan and quite a bit of time was shaved off my day so Minestrone Soup turned into "Take Out Pizza" (and gluten free/egg free pizza that I made myself for the Little Man). I always wondered what would happen if you made it through the grocery store, checked out and then realized you forgot your wallet. On Friday, I got to find out. They put your cart full of groceries in the cooler until you go home and get your wallet off the living room table where you left it instead of putting it back in your purse like you should have. And you would have put it back in your purse but you were dripping water on the floor because you had been in the shower. And why did you need your wallet when you were in the shower? Because you were buying a car and you needed to give them insurance information. Because everyone buys a car when they are in the shower, right? I was actually just giving them information for the credit application. I guess technically we didn't "buy" it until Saturday, but still.... So I went to the grocery store and left that stinking wallet on the table. But I couldn't come straight home and get the wallet and go back for the groceries because I was pressed for time. So I came home, got the wallet, picked the boys up from school, went to the grocery store and got the groceries, came home unloaded the groceries while giving the boys a snack, then went back out to the "garage" to get my "car to be traded in the next day" because they were fixing something (did I mention that I was driving a "beater" all day too that had the 'service engine soon' light on and that sounded like a mac truck? No? Oh I was...), dropped off the "beater", realized we had a birthday party the next day that I didn't buy a present for, went to K-Mart for that, passed a pizza place, and decided that since the day was less than stellar we were having take out pizza for dinner instead of Minestrone soup. WHEW! You probably didn't need to know all of that, but I need to share it.

So here is my menu for the week (and a lessen to all of you to check your purse to make sure your wallet is in there before you go to the grocery store... or not to buy a car when you are in the shower)

Friday: Take Out Pizza/GF Pizza

Saturday: Slow Cooker BBQ Beef, salad

Sunday: Outback Steakhouse (should have been Cajun soup but due to Older Sons soccer game we ate out)

Monday: Left over BBQ Beef

Tuesday: Turkey Tacos

Wednesday: Cajun Chicken and Andouille Soup (slow cooker)

Thursday: Shrimp Scampi

Friday: Tuna Melts and Minestrone Soup (slow cooker)

Hope you have a wonderful and uneventful week!
